Tredyffrin Board Announces New Superintendent of Police

The Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the appointment of Lieutenant Anthony Giaimo as the new Superintendent of Police for the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, effective immediately. For more information, please click here.


Trout Creek Stormwater Overlay District Ordinance

The next Board of Supervisors public hearing for the revised ordinance amendment is on Monday, June 18th, 2012, 7:30 pm in the Township Building.

The overlay district is intended to encourage redevelopment on large properties in the Trout Creek Watershed that will include substantial public stormwater facilities to better manage runoff.

The Township has conducted studies to evaluate and develop recommendations to improve the condition of the Trout Creek Watershed and address flooding in the Glenhardie area. Look What's New in Recreation!

The Township has added several new recreation programs, including a soccer program this spring, and Police and Philadelphia Ultimate Camps this summer! Please visit our Parks and Recreation page for more information on these and our regular recreation programs.


Police Department Community Learning Series

Project Child Safe: Mike Alexander, a NRA certified instructor and a State, Regional, National, and International Shooting Champion, will join with the police department to conduct this class. We will review what every parent, gun owner or perspective gun owner should know. We will also discuss Project Child Safe which is a Nationally funded program promoting gun safety. Attendees will receive a FREE gun lock as provided through the Federal grant. All members of the Tredyffrin Township Community are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Red Cross Blood Drive

The Township is holding a blood drive at the Township Building from 1 pm - 7 pm on Monday, June 4th, 2012. Help save lives by registering for this drive today! Please go to this website to schedule your appointment or read the flyer for more details.


Summer in the Park Concert Series and Fourth of July Celebration

Tredyffrin Township is partnering with F4 Fiorenza’s Food for Friends and will be collecting non-perishable foods during all our Community Events: the Concert Series and 4th of July Celebration. Food will be distributed to local food pantries in Chester County. Thank you for your generosity!


2013 Budget Discussions

During 2012, Tredyffrin will review the services provided by a different Township department each month at a Board of Supervisors public meeting, as well as revenue sources available to pay for those services. The goal is to engage in public dialogue that will lead to goals for the 2013 budget that begins in the fall. Park maintenance, recreation programs and leaf sites will be presented Monday, June 18th, 2012, 7:30 pm.


Transportation Updates

  • Upper Gulph Road and Woodland Road: As part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. will be replacing the water main on Upper Gulph Road, between Homestead and Old Eagle School Roads, and on Woodland Road between Upper Gulph Road and a point 310 feet South of Upper Gulph Road, beginning May 14th. Crews will work weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm. There may be some minor traffic disruptions during this construction project but flagmen will be onsite and all necessary vehicles will be given priority. Work is expected to be completed by July 30, 2012.
  • Upper Gulph Road: As part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. will close Upper Gulph Road, between Conestoga and Old Eagle School Roads, beginning May 14th for water main installations. During the hours of 9 am to 3 pm on weekdays, traffic will be detoured over Devon State Road, Valley Forge Road, East Swedesford Road, and West Valley Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Work is expected to be completed by July 30th.
  • Yellow Springs Road: This road will be closed to thru-traffic and a detour implemented between N. Valley Road and Route 29 on April 16th through the 20th 9am - 3pm. This work is expected to continue another 2 weeks while the contractor continues to erect steel beams on the overhead ramps. Notifications will be sent each week as needed until the work is completed and the detour lifted.

  • Hilltop Road and Friendship Drive: As part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. will be replacing the water main on the following streets: Hilltop Road (between Bear Road and Friendship Drive) and Friendship Drive (between Hilltop Road and Bearhill Road). There will be minor traffic disruptions on weekdays from 7:30 am to 5 pm, but flaggers will be onsite. The project should be completed by July, 2012. Any questions should be directed to Aqua's Superintendent of Construction, Mike Fili, at 610-430-0747.
  • Chester Valley Trail: Phase 2 of the Chester Valley Trail project, between Route 29 and the Tredyffrin/Upper Merion township line, began in March, 2012. The County has selected Allan A. Myers, L.P. to complete construction and the project is estimated to take 15 to 18 months, weather permitting. This project is part of Chester County's plan for a former railroad right of way between Struble Trail in Downingtown Borough through the length of Tredyffrin Township to the Chester County/Montgomery County line in King of Prussia.

Sewer Line in Valley Forge National Historical Park

There was a break in a large sewer main in Valley Forge National Historical Park, near Wilson Road and Valley Creek. This break has been been fixed and the temporary bypass pipe is being decommissioned.

In order to ensure the safety of park visitors and construction crews, the following restrictions are in place in Valley Forge National Historical Park until further notice:

  • Wilson Road is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Library Lane is closed to all vehicle traffic. Pedestrian traffic is permitted between the Knox Trail and the Mt. Misery/Covered Bridge trailheads.
  • Valley Creek trails are closed between the Knox Trail and the turnpike underpass to Chesterbrook.
  • Valley Creek is closed to all access, including fishing, between Wilson Road and the turnpike underpass to Chesterbrook.
  • Existing No Parking regulations will be enforced along the Yellow Springs Road shoulder.

The Township's Emergency Management Office offers a variety of emergency management programs such as the Chester County RSAN program to immediately contact you during a major crisis or emergency, 511 PA for 24-hour information service and programs available for people with special needs.
