The Chester County Solid Waste Authority is sponsoring a free shredding and electronics “anything with a cord, except items containing Freon” collection event on Saturday, May 7th from 9am to 2pm at the Digital Direct parking lot, Honey Brook Industrial Center. Special Election on May 17th
On Tuesday, May 17th, there will be a special election in Tredyffrin to fill a seat on the Board of Supervisors. All registered voters in the Township, whether Republican, Democrat, or Independent, are permitted to vote in this election. The voting will be in addition to the primary voting and will take place at the usual polling locations. Information about who is running can be found at Chester County Voter Services. |
| Highway Construction
Mill Road closed: The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is replacing the bridge on Mill Road. The closure will remain in effect until November. Route 29 slip ramp construction begins: The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission began construction on March 28th and expects to be done late 2012. Route 202 construction begins: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation began construction in April to widen Route 202 between North Valley Road and the Route 30 bypass. There will be southbound nighttime road closures the week of May 1st. For more information, please see PennDOT's interactive work zone map. |
| Historic District Ordinance Amendment Review
An ordinance has been drafted to: establish a Historic Resources Overlay District and set parameters for area, bulk and use requirements within the overlay district; create a Historic Commission to advise the Board of Supervisors concerning the listing of resources within the overlay district; and set requirements for conditional use approval for alterations, additions to and demolition of resources within the overlay district. This draft ordinance and zoning map were reviewed by the Historic Architectural Review Board on April 20th and by the Planning Commission on April 21st, 7pm at their public meetings. The Board will hold a public meeting regarding this ordinance on Monday, May 23th, 7:30pm. |
| Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance Amendment Review
An ordinance has been drafted to revise the Streets Design Standards regarding sidewalk and pedestrian amenities in establishing the criteria for the requirement to construct sidewalks and pathways and establish a fee in lieu of construction procedure. The Planning Commission reviewed this draft ordinance at its public meeting on April 21st. The Board will hold a public meeting regarding this ordinance on Monday, June 20th, 7:30pm. |
| Utility Construction
Aqua PA will be replacing water mains on Stirling Drive and Anthony Wayne Drive (from Stirling Drive to Walker Road) beginning Monday, April 25th and ending June 30th. The work hours are 7am – 4pm, Monday through Friday. Emergency responders, school buses, and local traffic will be allowed access. There will be lane restrictions and detours; affected residents should allow for extra travel time due to possible delays. Questions regarding this project should be directed to Nicholas J. Lyme Disease Awareness
Doug Fearn from the Lyme Disease Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania presented information and tips about avoiding lyme disease to the community at the Board of Supervisors meeting on March 21st. Mr. Fearn is the author of Lyme Disease: The Basics. His presentation is available for viewing on our Public Access Channel on the program, "Goverment Advice on Staying Safe". |
| Tax Collection in Chester County
The Chester County Tax Collection Committee appointed Keystone Collections Group to serve as the Earned Income Tax (EIT) collector for school and municipal taxing authorities within Chester County, effective January 1st, 2011. Neither Tredyffrin Township nor the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District impose the earned income tax. However, all businesses in Tredyffrin now must withhold the earned income tax for their employees who live in school districts or municipalities that do have an EIT and remit to Keystone Collections Group. Tredyffrin Township will continue to collect the local services tax ($52 for every employee who works in Tredyffrin) in 2011. |
| Emergency Management The Township's Emergency Management Office offers a variety of emergency management programs such as the Chester County RSAN program to immediately contact you during a major crisis or emergency, 511 PA for 24-hour information service and programs available for people with special needs. |
