Tredyffrin Historic Preservation Trust

Check out our new website at www.tredyffrinhistory.org !

The Trust is a nonprofit organization established in 2002 in response to the threat to demolish the historic eighteenth century Jones Log Barn. The Trust’s mission is to preserve and protect historic and cultural resources in Tredyffrin Township for the benefit of present and future generations and to educate the public about the preservation and protection of historic and cultural settings. Visit Wilson Farm Park and see the newly installed Jones Log Barn sign indicating the suggested site for the reconstruction of the barn.

The Trust has initiated a fundraising campaign with a goal of $350,000 to rebuild the Jones Log Barn in Wilson Park, in Chesterbrook. Many opportunities exist for you to help the Trust reach this goal. All proceeds from the lecture series and annual house tour as well as from the sale of notecards and calendars (available at the Township Building) are put towards the project.

What do you get when you combine three 18th century Revolutionary War general headquarters with a 250 year-old Georgian mansion and an historic barn conversion that had its roots as a casket-making business? Answer, the 2nd Annual Historic House Tour! The Trust is pleased to report that the 2nd Annual Historic House Tour, held on Sunday, September 24th, 2006 was a great success – ticket sales were up 50% from 2005! We would like to thank the wonderful homeowners who allowed us to enjoy their beautiful historic properties. Click here for some photos taken at the 2006 House Tour.

Save the Date! The Trust is excited to announce that the 3rd Annual Historic House Tour is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 1-5 PM. Tickets are $35/person and must be purchased in advance; there will not be tickets sold at the door. Light refreshments will be served at the home of Sen. Philander Knox. In honor of our township’s 300th anniversary, the Trust will celebrate our colonial past with visits to historic homes in Tredyffrin Township. To commemorate Tredyffrin’s milestone, we will feature homes from all ‘corners’ of our township – enjoy exploring your community!
