Code Enforcement

What is Code Enforcement? The primary intent of any code is to provide uniform safeguards for the health, safety and welfare of Township residents. Zoning codes regulate the location and use of a structure; construction codes govern minimum construction standards; fire codes attempt to prevent fire events; and nuisance codes prevent behavior that is detrimental to other properties or the surrounding area.

Tredyffrin Township codes are intended to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Tredyffrin Township staff responds to written complaint-generated violations of the Township's Codified Ordinances. If you are concerned about a situation you think may be a code violation, please contact the Township by email or mail or fill out the online form. Anonymous complaints are not accepted.

When a complaint is received, the following steps occur:

Prohibited nuisances include excessively tall grass and weeds; dumping of trash, debris, or unregistered vehicles; failure to shovel snow from sidewalks; parking recreational or commercial vehicles on in required front yard areas or in other required yard areas without proper screening;etc. For more information, please consult the Tredyffrin Township Property Maintenance Code.

Animal nuisances are handled by the Animal Control Officer who works with the Tredyffrin Township Police Department.
