Commitment to providing better and more efficient park and recreatio services and facilities spurred the Township to undergo a comprehensive park and recreation planning process.
The Township hired Urban Research & Development Corporation (URDC) to evaluate the Township's park, recreation and open space system to determine if the Township's park facilities (fields, tot lots, courts, etc.), programs (camps and classes), open space, trails and sidewalk resources and policies met the needs of Township residents and were being used appropriately.
The project, which was partially funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), also devised a plan for utilizing facilities appropriately; improving and/or expanding facilities and/or programs; maintaining and staffing these programs and facilities; cooperating with the school district, other municipalities and local organizations; and creating a plan to finance these park and recreation programs.
The Tredyffrin Township Park, Recreation and Open Space Plan was officially adopted by the Board of Supervisors as an amendment to the Tredyffrin Township Comprehensive Plan on May 2, 2005.
