Snow Information
The following are a few things that you can do to help ensure a safe and happy winter for yourself and Tredyffrin Township. In order for the Public Works Department and Township Administration to most effectively address winter issues, please keep in mind the following regulations and policies:
- Trash receptacles may not be placed on the street. This inhibits the snow removal vehicles from doing their job. Please place your trash cans either on the lawn or curb in front of your property.
- From the beginning of the accumulation of snow or ice until the roadway is cleared by the Public Works Department, no vehicle, trailer, boat or camper may be parked in the roadway. Violating this regulation could result in a fine of up to $1000.
- If the roadway is the only parking option (due to lack of a driveway or a dangerously steep driveway), you may apply for an on-street snow/ice parking permit from the Director of Public Works. You will then be directed to park on a specific side of the street so that the snow removal vehicles are still able to plow. To obtain such a permit, call (610) 408-3620.
- There are a few streets exempt from this regulation, to see them please go to the Township Ordinance.
- The Public Works Department works extremely hard to make traveling on Township roads safe for everyone. In the event of a storm, snow will be plowed first on main streets, next on secondary streets, and finally on cul-de-sac and dead-end streets. Please be patient and allow ample time for them to arrive in your area. In the event that problems do occur, call the office at (610) 408-3620.
- Keeping sidewalks safe is another important winter concern. Residents must clear snow, sleet and ice from the sidewalks in front of their property no more than 30 hours after a storm. For stubborn icy spots, be sure to use ice control methods such as salt or sawdust.
The Township thanks you for doing your part to nullify the effects of winter storms. In the event of extreme weather or emergency, please tune to Tredyffrin Public Access (Channel 2) and check the Township website (www.tredyffrin.org) for updates and information.
