What are the sewer rental fees in Tredyffrin Township?
Sewer rental fees in the Township are $250.00 per year per equivalent dwelling unit. An equivalent dwelling unit is a single home, which is estimated to use
275 gallons of water per day. A single home (twin, single, townhouse, or condominium unit) is charged for 1 EDU, or $250.00 per year, flat rate. Commercial
properties are charged for one or multiple EDU's, and in some cases based on water usage.

What is a lateral?
A lateral is usually a 4" or 6" -diameter pipe that connects the sewer discharge of a house or building to the main. The resident/property owner is responsible for all aspects of maintenance and repair on the lateral for its entire length, to the main.
What is a main?
A main is a sanitary sewer pipe that is 8" or greater in diameter. Mains usually run in the streets, and in some cases, through easements granted through private property. The Township maintains the sewer main.
What is an easement?
An easement is a permanent right granted for limited use, in this case, for a sanitary sewer. A sanitary sewer easement allows the Township, through the Municipal Authority, to own, operate, maintain, repair, replace, enlarge, and inspect the sanitary sewer.
What are the procedures for connecting to the public sewer system?
The following outlines the basic procedures for connection to the sewer system, but prior to this, the owner must contact the Director of Authority Operations at Tredyffrin Township. (610) 644-1400 or sewer@tredyffrin.org
Single Residence
- Obtain capacity verification through the Director of Authority Operations.
- Obtain Tredyffrin Township Municipal Authority specs for construction. Construction costs are borne by the resident.
- Obtain a street opening permit if the connection will take place in the street.
- Pay a $3,478.29 per EDU tapping fee. (No connection fee)
- Submit sketch for approval and schedule inspections
- The above procedures do not include any requirements set forth by the Township concerning subdivision and land development requirements, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board, Environmental Advisory Committee, or any state and federal requirements.
