Current Construction
Mill Road closed: The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is replacing the bridge on Mill Road. The closure will remain in effect until November.
Route 29 slip ramp construction begins: The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission began construction on March 28th and expects to be done late 2012.
Route 202 construction begins: The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation began construction in April to widen Route 202 between North Valley Road and the Route 30 bypass. For more information, please see PennDOT's interactive work zone map.
Township Projects
Rt 252 Bridge/Intersection ImprovementsThe final draft of a study analyzing options for improvements to Route 252 near the Amtrak bridge in Paoli was presented at the Board of Supervisors meeting on March 7, 2011. The board accepted the report and asked staff to begin coordination with PennDOT in the short-term recommendations to the area. This study is part of the Paoli Transportation Center project.
Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) Projects
Milepost 320-326 Widening (between Valley Forge Interchange and Rt. 29) - The PA Turnpike Commission plans to widen
the highway between the Valley Forge interchange and Route 29 from 4 to 6 lanes. The Township and community representatives have been working with the PTC on ideas for
effective stormwater management and noise mitigation.
In preparation for the widening project, the PTC will replace the overpass on Mill Road. Construction started on March 21. This part of the road will be closed through November 4, 2011. Detour information can be found here.
Route 29 Slip Ramp (West of Tredyffrin) - The new Route 29 "Slip Ramp" Exit is a brand-new Turnpike interchange. It is an unstaffed interchange built exclusively for use by E-ZPass members. Construction began in April 2011 and will continue through 2012.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Projects
Widening Route 202 between North Valley Road and the Route 30 bypass - Construction began in April 2011 for widening of Route 202 from 4 to 6 lanes. The project should last through the Summer of 2014. For more information, please see PennDOT's interactive work zone map.
Chester County Projects
The Chester Valley Trail is planned for a former railroad right of way between Chester County's Struble Trail in Downingtown Borough through the length of Tredyffrin Township to the Chester County/Montgomery County line in King of Prussia. From that point, Montgomery County hopes to establish a link over the Schuylkill Expressway to the Schuylkill River Trail in Norristown.
- Phase 1, between Valley Creek Blvd in Exton and Route 29 in East Whiteland opened in September 2010.
- Phase 2, between Route 29 and the Tredyffrin/Upper Merion township line, is in design.
Rail Schedules
Tredyffrin is served by the Thorndale/Paoli line to Central Philadelphia (formerly the "R5").
SEPTA Regional Railroad Fare Credit - If you pay cash on the train, conductors will collect the higher on-board price for all cash transactions, but
you can receive a fare credit good for the purchase of an advanced sale priced return ticket.
Bus Schedules
Tredyffrin Township is served by several SEPTA bus routes - the 124, 204, 205 and 206.
Starting September 7, 2010, SEPTA's Route 205 began providing connections from Paoli Train Station to Phoenixville. Departures and arrivals are timed with selected Paoli/Thorndale Line trains going to and from Philadelphia. The route will continue to provide peak hour access to portions of the Great Valley area, including Vanguard, Uptown Worthington, the Route 29 corridor and the Commons. Buses will continue north along Route 29 and Main Street into downtown Phoenixville, with the endpoint at Fillmore Street and Black Rock Road on the Borough's north side.
Transportation Management Association of Chester County - Beeline
- The Beeline provides service during peak commuting periods from the Coatesville, Downingtown and Exton areas to Great Valley, Mondays through Fridays. Weekend service is not offered at this time.
- Stops include downtown Coatesville, Thorndale, Downingtown at Kerr Park, Exton Square Mall, Siemens Medical Systems and Vanguard in the Great Valley area.
