Vacation Tips

If you are going away, follow these tips for a safe and happy vacation.

1. NOTIFY TREDYFFRIN POLICE DEPARTMENT AND/OR TOWNWATCH OF THE DATES YOU WILL BE AWAY AND WILL RETURN.
2. Double-check all windows - don't forget basement windows!
3. Be sure garage doors and windows are locked.
4. Don't discuss your plans in public places.
5. Put valuables away in safety deposit vault or any place you feel won't be discovered.
6. Have mail picked up by a friend or neighbor. Have someone pick up newspapers, flyers, etc.
7. Arrange to have the lawn cut.
8. Alert neighbors not to reveal to strangers that you are away.
9. Arrange for neighbor or friend to use your garbage or trashcans.
10. Remove ladders from sight. Lock away, if possible.
11. Leave a car in the driveway, if possible. See if a neighbor or friend will occasionally move it to different locations for you.
12. Leave a number with a neighbor, close friend, or police where you can be reached in an emergency.
13. Install several timers in various areas of the house.
14. Attach a radio to a timer.
15. Equip doors and windows with deadbolts.
