Police Officer Applicant Minimum Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements for the position of Police Officer in Tredyffrin Township:
AGE
Must be 21 years of age and applicant must not exceed 70 years of age on the date of the written test.
HEIGHT & WEIGHT
Must be in proportion.
VISION
Applicants shall have visual acuity of at least 20/70, uncorrected in the stronger eye, correctable to at least 20/20; and at least 20/200, uncorrected in the weaker eye, correctable to at least 20/40. In addition, the applicant shall have normal depth and color perception and be free of any other significant visual abnormality.
PHYSICAL
Applicant must pass a rigid physical examination and physical performance assessment consistent with job tasks.
EDUCATION
- 60 college semester credits from an accredited college or university
- The Superintendent of Police may give consideration to any applicant who has already completed 30 college semester credits from an accredited college or university if they possess any one, or more than one, of the following three exceptions:
- Current MPOETC certification through Act 120
- Two years full time law enforcement experience
- Two years full time military experience in any of the United States Armed Services, and possess an Honorable Discharge
OR
Note: This waiver process is only available with a pre-employment contract stipulating that employees hired under this condition will obtain a total of 60 college semester credits on, or before, the end of their fifth year of employment. Continued employment is conditional upon successful completion of this agreement.
BACKGROUND
Applicant must not have a criminal conviction record, and must have an excellent reputation. An extensive background investigation will be conducted on all applicants considered for employment.
