Each year, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department holds a Citizens Police Academy for residents as part of its community crime prevention program. The program is designed to increase understanding between citizens and police officers through training and open communications. This program is offered to the community through the Community Policing Unit. The mission of this Unit is to provide information to the public so it can be informed of current crime trends and have a basic understanding of how to reduce its risk of becoming a victim to a crime. Retired Officer Larry Meoli states that, "the academy is an excellent program to bring the community and police department closer together through mutual understanding and training. By participating in this program, citizens promote community involvement - which is one of the most powerful forces any law enforcement agency has in the fight against crime."

Academy course highlights include: Criminal investigation, patrol procedures, domestic violence awareness, DUI and drug investigations, traffic law enforcement procedures, overview of the criminal justice system and a tour of the police facility, 911 Center, and a local fire company.

The 2017 CPA classes will be every Wednesday night from September 20th thru December 6th from 7-9:30PM. Applications are now available by clicking the link CPA Application Link
