Valley Creek Trunk Sewer Sale to Aqua Resources Inc.

Berwyn, PA (December 20, 2018) Tredyffrin Township, Tredyffrin Township Municipal Authority and Aqua Resources Inc., a subsidiary of Aqua American Inc. have closed on the sale of the Valley Creek Trunk Sewer system on behalf of the member municipalities for $28.3 million.

The Valley Creek trunk sewer system receives untreated wastewater from Easttown, East Whiteland, Willistown and Tredyffrin Townships, Malvern Borough and the Valley Forge Sewer Authority. The flow is conveyed to the Valley Forge Treatment Plant, owned by the VFSA. The system consists of 49,000 linear feet of gravity sewers, as well as the Darby Road and Wilson Road pump stations and force mains.

Tredyffrin Township Manager William Martin said, “We are pleased to sell the system to a well known company such as Aqua Resources, Inc.  Over the last couple of years, they have proven their excellence in the wastewater business.  We appreciate them coming in to help resolve a difficult situation.  We additionally want to thank all of our partners for their hard work and dedication in getting this deal done.  We believe this deal improved all of our communities.”

Tredyffrin Township Finance Director Joseph DiRocco said, ”This is a very exciting day for Tredyffrin Township and all of our partners.  Along with Aqua Resources, we have all put in a lot of hard work and all made some tough decisions along the way.  We are also very thankful for all of the hard work and dedication put in by our representatives at Gawthrop Greenwood, Dilworth Paxson, and PFM.  Without their guidance this deal would have never happened.”

Aqua America Chairman and CEO Chris Franklin said, “We are grateful that Aqua has been entrusted to help resolve the long-standing challenges this system has faced and appreciate the opportunity to share our expertise in infrastructure and operations to strengthen it well into the future.”
