CVT Map (2015)

The Chester Valley Trail (CVT) is a Chester County project utilizing a former Reading Railroad right of way between Chester County's Struble Trail in Downingtown Borough, through the length of Tredyffrin Township, to the Chester County/Montgomery County line in King of Prussia. From that point, Montgomery County has built a link over the Schuylkill Expressway to South Gulph Road in Upper Merion.

  • Phase 1 - between Exton Park in Exton and Route 29 in East Whiteland opened in September 2010
  • Phase 2 - between Route 29 and the Tredyffrin/Upper Merion Township line opened in January 2014
  • Phase 3 - between Exton Park and Commerce Drive in Exton opened in September 2014
  • Phase 4 - scheduled to begin in 2015, this will extend the trail west from Commerce Drive to the Oaklands Corporate Center in Exton.

A study is expected to begin in 2015 to identify the best route from Exton to Downingtown. No date has been set for construction. Montgomery County expects to begin construction in 2016 on the segment between South Gulph Road and the Schuylkill River Trail in Norristown.
