In late 2013, the Church Road Bridge over a Tributary to Valley Creek, near the intersection of Church Road and Yellow Springs Road, was inspected and found to be structurally deficient. The Township’s Consultant, McCormick Taylor, Inc., determined that the structure was in need of an immediate replacement. The Township worked with McCormick Taylor to fast track the design and construction of a total bridge replacement.
In August 2014, the Township’s Board of Supervisors awarded the construction contract to Lobar Site Development Corporation and construction started shortly after Labor Day. The Township used a precast bridge structure in order to reduce the construction time and have the road opened as quickly as possible. The contractor worked diligently, and the bridge was completed and the roadway was reopened to vehicular traffic on November 25, 2014.
