Tredyffrin Township – Staff Accountant (June 8, 2020)
Tredyffrin Township is seeking to fill the position of Staff Accountant to supervise monthly and year-end closing, including the preparation and/or review of journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activity; and assist in the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports. The Staff Accountant will assist the Township’s appointed auditors in the conduct of the annual audits and follow up with recommendations for procedural improvements. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the Township’s fixed assets in accordance with GASB 34. The Staff Accountant will also assist in the administration of employee pension plans; support staff from the PA Auditor General’s office during their biennial audit. We are looking for a person to establish and maintain a documented system of accounting and internal control procedures and assure that standard procedures are followed. The Staff Accountant will be asked to prepare a variety of AD HOC reports for decision-making purposes and to communicate official policies and procedures to staff and the general public. The successful candidate will assist with the development of finance-related policies, ordinances and resolutions and is expected to represent the Township at various conferences and meetings. Qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or MBA in related field from an accredited college or university (AACSB)
- Minimum two to five years in progressively responsible accounting positions
- Must be bondable
Tredyffrin seeks candidates with a strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to learn new skills. Applicants should have knowledge of government accounting and budgeting, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP and GASB).
This is a full time, non-union, exempt position, the salary range is $60,000 - $70,000 with excellent benefits. EOE. Subject to background/drug screens.
