In Tredyffrin Township, Trash & Recycling Collection are Privatized

Tredyffrin Township offers residents & commercial establishments the option to select from a variety of waste haulers that operate within the Township to collect municipal waste, recycling materials & leaf waste. Owners & occupants of all establishments within the Township and approved collector shall establish a collection frequency of municipal waste that shall occur no less than once per week.
In accordance with our Solid Waste ordinance (Chapter 168), Tredyffrin Township requires that all Municipal Waste Collectors register annually with the Township. Haulers who wish to register with Tredyffrin Township for residential and/or commercial waste, recycling & leaf collection must fully complete a registration form and return to the Township no later than January 31 each year. Approved haulers must provide the Township with their current rate schedule, intended areas of operation (by street), the terms of service, and scheduled days and frequency of collection for municipal waste, recycling materials & leaf waste in different areas of the Township.
Recycling in Tredyffrin Township
Tredyffrin Township is mandated by Pennsylvania State Act 101 to recycle. All persons in the Township must contract with an approved collector for the separate curbside or similar collection of municipal waste, recyclable materials & leaf waste. Pricing, pick-up dates/times, materials & methods of collection recyclables will be determined by the hauler.
PLEASE NOTE: Recycling collection frequency shall occur no less than once every other week. Leaf waste shall be collected curbside or at a similar location by an approved collector, separate from municipal waste and recyclable materials, at a frequency of no less than once per month. Electronics Recycling
Tredyffrin Township is proud to offer local residents the opportunity to responsibly recycle obsolete electronics and small appliances. This service is available to all surrounding residents and small business with fewer than 50 employees. Electronics will be recycled by eForce Compliance, Philadelphia's first Certified Responsible Recycler. Certain items may require payment of a disposal fee. No Smoke Detectors or Large Appliances will be accepted. For questions, please call 215-964-6665. Anything with a Plug Electronics Recycling events are held twice a year in Wilson Farm Park & dates will be shared on the Township events calendar as they are scheduled.
Goodwill Keystone Area is partnering with Reworld to offer residents across 22 central and southeastern Pennsylvania counties a convenient way to drop-off old electronics items – including TVs – for FREE. This initiative responds to a critical need in our region, expanding electronic recycling options under the PA Covered Device Recycling Act 108. With 42 store and donation centers across the 22 counties where Goodwill Keystone Area operates, we're making it easier than ever to recycle a wide variety of electronics.
The Township Offers a Free Recycling Service
Do you have used cell phones or inkjet cartridges, but don't want to throw them in the landfill? Tredyffrin offers a way to recycle these items free of charge. Drop your used cell phones and inkjet cartridges at the Township Building and we'll recycle them for you!

Please note that inkjet or toner cartridges that are not sealed in a plastic wrapper or other container to prevent spillage/leakage will not be accepted.
Composting in the Township
Residents are encouraged to compost yard waste on their own property. Residential contractors also provide several dates in the fall which they pick up leaves and yard waste. However, for those who are not able to do so, Tredyffrin provides a compost site for Tredyffrin Township residents and contractors. For more information, please click here.
