Thomas Road Bridge - Geotechnical Testing Starting November 3rd

Published on October 22, 2025

Chester County Bridge #300 carries Thomas Road over Trout Creek in Tredyffrin Township. The County has partnered with an engineering team to design the replacement bridge. In order to advance to the next phases of design, geotechnical testing of the ground at the bridge site is required to ascertain design parameters.

Geotechnical testing at the bridge site will include four (4) total test holes; including two (2) on each side of Trout Creek. The work will occur while Thomas Road is restricted to a single-lane across the bridge between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm each day. Traffic will be maintained by traffic flaggers at each approach during the restricted period. Due to the available width on the existing bridge, trucks will be detoured off of Thomas Road while the testing is completed. The modified traffic pattern on Thomas Road is anticipated to last approximately two (2) weeks and will begin on Monday, November 3, 2025. Testing rates can vary based on weather conditions and the quality of rock that is encountered during the testing which could impact the overall length of the traffic restriction.

Please note that vehicles will be able to pass through Thomas Road during this geotechnical testing and only trucks will be detoured due to the width of the existing bridge. Please use caution when driving in the area and be mindful of work crews. We thank you for your continued patience.
