Public Works Mechanic II w/Inspection

Tredyffrin Township Public Works Department is seeking a Mechanic II w/Inspection who will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of Police Department vehicles, as well as maintain Public Works and Administration vehicles. Must have own tools to perform routine maintenance on Township-owned vehicles; the Township does supply some specialty tools. Must be able to operate a variety of diagnostic tools/instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air-driven tools to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Tests, services, and repairs to vehicles and mechanical equipment. Inspects, adjusts, and replaces necessary units and related parts in the performance of repair and maintenance work. Repairs brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assemblies, communication equipment, emergency equipment, and related systems. Cuts and welds metal and performs body repair, touch up and related work. Changes and repairs tires and tubes, performs periodic routine and scheduled maintenance. Updates mileage, inventory and preventative maintenance records. Preform PA State Inspection, maintain vehicle cost tracking via hours, material, and outside services. Snow removal, as well as assist in various Highway work, as required. Must be available to work scheduled and emergency overtime, as needed. Other Public Works tasks, as assigned.  The successful candidate must be able to operate Township equipment and vehicles. This individual must be in good physical condition and be able to walk, crouch, climb and carry heavy objects, and work in all types of weather conditions. 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent or Automotive Trade School.
  • Two years in vehicle or equipment repair.
  • Valid PA Class 1 State Inspection License.
  • Must possess valid PA Driver’s License – CDL Class B with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsement.
  • Availability for scheduled and emergency overtime duty, as needed.
