Board of Supervisors Statement Regarding 1000 Westlakes Office Lease
Published on March 11, 2026
We know the news that the GSA has leased space in Tredyffrin Township has created concern among some residents that the scenes from Minnesota, of ICE and CBP wearing masks to evade accountability and stopping people simply because they have an accent or because of the color of their skin will be repeated here. We want to make it clear; everyone is welcome in Tredyffrin Township, no matter what language you speak, what you look like, who you love, or who you pray to.
The Township is committed to doing everything we can within the boundaries of the law to protect our residents. The building permit requested by the GSA was for standard office construction like any other routine permit. Similarly, the Certificate of Occupancy was for permitted office use. There was nothing unusual about these requests or the proposed usage of the office space and, therefore, no basis for the Township to object.
The Township affirms the sentiment expressed in the Joint Statement issued by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the Chester County Police Chief’s Association, that local law enforcement does not enforce civil immigration orders, that the Township has no connection with the activities of ICE, and that Township resources are focused on providing for the health, safety, and welfare of all members of our community. In the event the chaos caused by ICE and CBP comes to Tredyffrin Township, the Township Officials, Staff and Police are prepared to do everything within their power to keep residents safe.
