Friendship Park Upgrades
Aimed at improving the park’s accessibility and functionality for the community as a whole, plans to make necessary upgrades at Friendship Park were brought to the board in October of 2024. Through a collaboration between Parks and Recreation board members, Township staff and consultants from Simone Collins Landscape Architecture, a master plan(PDF, 19MB) was developed to address the concerns and needs of Township residents using the park.
A key focus is ensuring the park meets Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, which includes equal access to public spaces, buildings and services for people with disabilities, such as smooth, wide paths and ground-level play elements. The renovations also include the addition of a pavilion, featuring two new restrooms with a small storage area, a replacement playground and nearby parking spaces. The plan also calls for accessible paths, a fenced-in dog park, and upgraded basketball courts.
2025 Update: Plans for Phase 1 include the completion of the dog park and updating the pavement. The project is currently still in the planning phases at this time. Check back for updates as they become available.
